Formed on 28 July 1941 in Cuxhaven from small R-Boote previously with the 5. Räumbootsflottille and was moved over French rivers and canals to the Mediterranean. Here it was headquartered at Tobruk, Tunis, Palermo, Nettuno, Genoa, Rijeka & Pula.

After the war the remainder of the Flotilla was transferred to the control of the Yugoslavian Navy and used for mine clearing in the Adriatic.
