Formed in August 1939 from the mobilisation of small R-Boats from the Sperrschule and other various commands. These boats were later transferred to the 6. Räumbootsflottille in the Mediterranean and the 5. Räumbootsflottille was re-stocked with new boats. The Flotilla was employed in the Baltic and after the occupation of Norway the Flotilla was transferred to northern Norway. From 1941 it was employed in the Gulf of Finland then Northern Norway until the wars end.
