Formed on 01 December 1942 from the staff of the 17. Minensuchflottille. Until the end of 1943 the Flotilla was employed in security & escort service in the North Sea & Norway. It was then was moved to Finnenbusen where it operated in the Baltic sea for escort duties until the wars end.

After the war it was used for mine clearing until November 1947.
