Formed to control the area of coast between the Orne Estary and the mouth of the Couesnon (Mont St. Michel) and included the Channel Islands when they were occupied. It was subordinate to the Marinebefehlshaber Nordfrankreich. In December 1940 the command structure in Brittany and western France was re-organised. The strip of coast to the Rance Estuary (Cap Fréhel) was added to this command, which now also took over control of Saint-Malo. With the dissolution of the Marinebefehlshaber Nordfrankreich in February 1941 this command became subordinate to the Marinebefehlshaber Kanalküste and re-designated Marineartilleriekommandeur Normandie.
