The Waffen-Schi Bataillon der SS 25 was formed in December 1944 to be made a part of 25. Waffen-Grenadier Division der SS Hunyadi (Ungarische Nr 1). The men were volunteers from the mountain troops of the Hungarian army.
It was attached to IV. SS-Panzerkorps in January 1945, probably as part of 1. Ungarisches SS-Sturmjäger Regiment, to attempt to relieve Budapest. It took part in the retreat through western Hungary and into Austria before the remaining 150 men surrendered to the Americans.
