The 1. Huszár Division was formed in October 1942 as the 1. Cavalry Division from 1. Cavalry Brigade and 2. Cavalry Brigade. It was redesignated 1. Huszár Division in September 1944. It absorbed the 1. Cavalry Field Replacement Brigade in October 1944.
Some elements of this division surrendered to US forces in Styria, Austria, while others surrendered to the Red Army.
