Nachtjäger: Luftwaffe Night Fighter Units Volume Two 1943-1945
David P. Williams
review-4

This is the second of two volumes dealing with the night fighter units of the Luftwaffe and it covers the period from 1943 until the end of the war.

This book is a part of the "Luftwaffe Colours" series and like the others in the series it contains a large number of high quality photos (both previously published and new ones), mainly in b/w but some in colour, as well as colour illustrations of a number of aircraft:
Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-5, W.Nr. 410054
Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-5 of 10./NJG 3
Junkers Ju 88 G-6 of II./NJG 5
Junkers Ju 88 G-6 of 7./NJG 2
Junkers Ju 88 G-1 of 2./NJG 4
Junkers Ju 88 G-6 of 11.NJG 3
Junkers Ju 88 G-6b if UV./NJG 3
Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 of II./NJG 1
Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 of NJG 1
Heinkel He 219 A-2 of 3./NJG 1
Junkers Ju 88 G-6 of 4./NJG 6
Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 of 7./NJG 6
Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 of NJG 6
Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 of 6./NJG 101
Messerschmitt Me 262 B-1a of 10./NJG 10

Included in the text are also a large number of first hand accounts from the men who took part in these missions.
A number of shorter articles on some of the pilots are also included.

I would have liked to see more details on things such as the tactics and training of these units and how it developed during the war, but considering that this volume is only 96 pages space is probably to limited for detailed studies on the many smaller aspects.
If you are interested in an overview of the night fighter units, especially if you are looking for a lot of good photos, I recommend this book, it is of the same quality as the rest of this series.
