Military police detachments were formed in summer 1941 for assignment to the garrison commands. Each I Class garrison command along with the City of Zagreb received a military police detachment of 40 men and the II Class garrison commands received a military police detachment of 24 men. The military police maintained order and discipline among the troops stationed within the territory of its respective garrison command and carried out investigations. The detachments were incorporated into the garrison brigades on or about 1 April 1944. (1)
