Formed on 01 July 1941 in Hamburg-Langenhorn when the Marinebordflakabteilung 200 was split in two. The Abteilung was subordinate to the 2. Admiral der Ostsee. It was tasked with the protection of military transports and private merchant shipping in the Baltic, Norway, Denmark and France. On 22 March 1943 the Abteilung was dissolved as the Marinebordflakbrigade Nord was formed and the Marinebordflakeinheiten was re-organised. The Abteilung became independant Marinebordflakkompanien with the Kriegsmarinewerft Kiel.
