Formed in East Frisia in January 1941. Between the spring and autumn of 1941 the Abteilung was in Holland and then in October 1941 it moved to St. Martin, then St. Peter Port on Guernsey were it was based until the end of the war. It was subordinate to the Seekommandant Normandie until July 1942 when it became subordinate to the newly formed Seekommandant Kanalinseln.
