Formed in Gotenhafen in January 1940 as a training flotilla responsible for the tactical training of U-Boat crews. The Flotilla was initially named the taktische Unterseebootsfrontausbildungsflottille until July 1940 when it was redesignated 27. Unterseebootsflottille. It was dissolved in March 1945.
