Formed Rostock in Mecklenburg in September 1939 with 8 fishing steamers, which was later restocked. The Flotilla operated in the western & central Baltic until 1941 when it was shifted for escort duties in the Elbe/Holland. With the start of the Eastern Campaign the Flotilla was moved to Liepāja for escort duties in the eastern Baltic. In the Gulf of Finland it was for security duties outside the blockade between Tallinn & Helsinki. With the escape of Soviet crews from Hanko two boats of the Flotilla were involved in the capture of the Russian Passenger Liner 'Stalin' which was carrying the majority of the escaping Soviet forces. With the German retreat of the Eastern Front, the Flotilla was assigned non-stop escort tasks in the Baltic Sea. It was dissolved at the wars end.
