Formed in September 1939 with 8 heavy fishing steamers and was employed in security duties in the Baltic Sea. With Operation 'Weserübung' the Flotilla provided escort protection for Norwegian based supplies to Kattegat & Skagerrak, after the Norwegian Campaign the Flotilla continued security tasks in that area. on 08 October 1943 the Flotilla was dissolved and it's Staff used to form the 29. Minensuchflottille.
