Formed on 22 September 1939 from 8 heavy German fishing steamers. After training in Security Service in the Baltic it was assigned for the protection of the Baltic Sea entrances. During Operation 'Weserübung' it was employed as an escort on Supply convoys. It was used on patrol & security service in West Norwegian Waters until its dissolution in August 1942. After it was dissolved, its Fishing Steamers were transferred to the remaining Vorpostenflottillen & Hilfsminensuchflottillen.
