Formed on 14 Mar 1941 and employed in security & escort duties in Western France, primarily at Biscaya. The Flotilla was also employed in the protection of U-boats on return & departing sorties. After the Allied invasion of France, what remained of the Flotilla was mostly laid up in the Atlantic Fortress of St. Nazaire.

After the war it was employed in mine clearing duties around France commanded by French Officers.
