Formed in 1936. At the start of the war to October 1939 it was used in the Polish Campaign for minesweeping & security tasks in the Danzig Bay. From November 1939 it was used in the North Sea for escort & minesweeping duties. In Operation 'Weserübung' its new boats were used experimentally by Kriegsschiffgruppen 6 & 10. In the Western Campaign the Flotilla operated initially off the Netherlands, then in the Channel area & western France, in the area of Brest. With the Allied invasion at Normandy all boats were destroyed & the Flotilla was dissolved in August 1944.
