It was primarily responsible for carrying out airborne medical tests to evaluate equipment intended for air crew personnel, cooperate in the development of new oxygen and related equipment for air crew, and the examining of air crew before certifying them for return to active flying duty. On 25 March 1943 it reported the crash of a He 111 P-2 belonging to it at Jüterbog-Waldlager with 25% damage. It was still in existence in April 1945.
