The SS-Polizei-Regiment Schlanders was formed in October 1944 in Italy when 1.200 - 1.500 men of the Süd-Tiroler Ordnungsdienst were drafted into this unit. It was mainly used for guard duty and surrendered to the Allies at Bolzano.
