The SS-Polizei Regiment 8 was formed in July 1942. It fought the partisans in southern Russia and was destroyed in January 1943.

A new SS-Polizei Regiment 8 was formed in November 1944 in Böhmen-Mähren. It fought in Hungary and later in Germany before merging with SS-Polizei-Jäger-Regiment 50 and forming the 1. SS-Polizei Jäger Brigade.
