The 9. Fallschirmjäger-Division was originally ordered to form in September 1944 but this was soon cancelled. It was formed in December 1944 in the Stettin area.
In February two battalions (II./FJR.25 and III./FJR.26) was detached from the division and flown to Festung Breslau.
The division saw action along the river Oder and in the Berlin area until surrendering to the Soviet Red Army.
