The 254. Infanterie-Division was formed on 26 August 1939 as part of the 4. Welle (wave). It was strengthened by the addition of Divisions-Gruppe 82 formed from elements of the destroyed 82. Infanterie-Division in May 1944. The division surrendered in May 1945 to the Red Army near Deutsch Brod.
