The XXXXVIII Panzerkorps was formed from XXXXVIII Armeekorps in June 1942 and served on the Eastern Front.
It fought in defensive operations around Kursk and later fought south of Stalingrad. During the spring 1943 it fought at Aksai, Kalinov, Tormosin and Morozovsk. It took part in Operation Zitadelle (Kursk) and later fought at Radomyshl, Berdichev and Busko Zdrog. It withdrew through Poland and ended the war on the Elbe.
