The XXIV Panzerkorps was formed in June 1942 from XXIV Armeekorps. It surrendered to the Red Army in Budweis, Moravia at the end of the war.

Oberleutnant d.R. Fritz Sell was awarded the Army Honor Roll Clasp on 5 March 1945 while serving as NSFO, Nationalsozialistischer Führungsoffizier (National Socialist Guidance Officer), with the corps, one of only two NSFO officers to receive higher awards. These were normally ordinary officers of the Army who were given the task of and were appointed to NSFO officially, added for illustration of the influence on the Wehrmacht from "outside" after the 20 July 1944 plot and to show last administrative measures and efforts in the autumn of 1944 to keep up and to strengthen order and morale.
