The XIV Panzerkorps was formed in June 1942 from XIV Armeekorps. It served on the southern sector of the Eastern front and was surrounded in Stalingrad November 1942 where it was destroyed on 29 January 1943.

It was reformed in March 1943 from survivors of the original Corps. It was sent to France and then to Italy where it remained until the end of the war.
