L Armeekorps was formed in October 1940 in Wehrkreis V.

SS-Obergruppenführer Friedrich Jeckeln was in February 1942 ordered to form a mix of Ordnungspolizei, Waffen-SS, Latvian Schuma-Auxiliaries into the Kampfgruppe Jeckeln that was used for anti-partisan operations under L Armeekorps. It was used in the area south of Leningrad February until August 1942. (2)

It was known as Gruppe Wegener in April and July 1944.
