The Arbeidstjenesten (AT) (Labor Service) was formed in Norway in September 1940 as local version of the Reichsarbeitsdienst but the root dates back to the 1930s and the non-Nazi voluntary organization Arbeidsfylkingen. It was under the control of the local Nazi party, Nasjonal Samling.
After the invasion of the Soviet Union a large number of AT officers volunteered, ending up in the Freiwilligen Legion Norwegen.
The commander of the AT, Carl Frølich Hanssen, was sentenced to seven years in prison post-war.
