The SS-Sturmbann Brandenburg (SS-Wachsturmbann V Brandenburg) was founded in March 1935 from SS-Wachtruppe Brandenburg as a guard unit for the Sachsenhausen camp when the guard units of the camps were reorganized. It guarded the Oranienburg and Columbia-Haus camps.
It merged with SS-Sturmbann Ostfriesland and was upgraded to regimental size on 1 July 1937 and redesignated SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 2 Brandenburg.
