On 23 March 1943 SS-FHA ordered that the first battalion of the Estnische SS-Legion that was forming in the training camp at Debica be detached from the legion and instead be attached to 5. SS-Panzer-Division Wiking operating in the Ukraine, specifically to SS-Panzergrenadier Regiment 10 Westland. When it arrived in the Losowaja area of the Ukraine it took over the equipment left by the departing Finnisches Freiwilligen-Bataillon der Waffen-SS.
In March 1944 it return to Estonia and was reformed into SS-Füsilier Batallion 20 of the forming 20. Estnische SS-Freiwilligen-Division.
