The SS-Funkschutz-Bataillon (also SS-Funkschutz-Abteilung) was formed as the SS-Funkschutz-Kompanie and upgraded to battalion size in December 1942. It controlled the protection units at the regional radio broadcasting stations (Reichssender) of the Großdeutscher Rundfunk, these units were transferred into the Waffen-SS in March 1941.
