The 16. Motorized Division Pistoia was mobilized in June 1940 as an infantry division and was sent to the French border. It was motorized in October 1941 and sent to Libya in July 1942. It was destroyed defending the Mareth Line May 1943.
It was reforming in northern Italy in September 1943 when it was disbanded by the Germans.
