The 57. Infantry Division Lombardia was mobilized in June 1940 and took part in the invasion of Yugoslavia. It served as an occupation force in Slovenia and Croatia until the Italian surrender when it was disbanded by the Germans.

This unit took part in anti-partisan operations in Croatia.
