The 41. Infantry Division Firenzi was mobilized June 1940 and took part in the invasion of France and later of Yugoslavia. It served as an occupation force in Montenegro until July 1941 when it was transferred to Albania where it remained until the Italian surrender.

A large number of men from the division joined the Yugoslavian and Albanian partisans following the surrender but there are also suggestions that the 92. CCNN Legion continued to serve with the German forces.
