The 7. Infantry Division Lupi di Toscana  was mobilized in June 1942 and was stationed on the border with France. It took part in the invasion of Greece suffering heavy losses.
It took part in the invasion of Vichy France in November 1942 and remained in Toulon until August 1943 when it returned to Italy. In September it was transferred to Rome to defend the Furbara and Ceveteria airfields where it surrendered.
